Tracers are unparalleled crystalsmiths, capable of crafting magical items and drawing crystalogical arrays. Tracers usually use crystal dust in the items they create as it is easier to manipulate than raw crystals, which contain dangerous amounts of magical potential. In addition, most tracers carry crystal dust suspended in a medium such as paint, ink, or chalk. The first tracers were Niobans, who devised arrays—magical patterns—based on the wing designs of the Faerie-folk. To this day Niobe is the home of the most skilled tracers, and the birthplace of Crystallurgy. The great Crystal Spire of Niobe is said to be laced with powerful crystal arrays on a vast scale, and it is there that every tracer journeys to on their Pilgrimage—the last step towards becoming a true crystallurgist.
